Quezon City for Corporate Video: Metro Manila's BPO and Broadcasting Hub
Quezon City is the largest city in Metro Manila by both area and population, anchoring much of the Philippine government and media industry. ABS-CBN (one of the two largest Philippine broadcasters) is headquartered here, GMA Network (the other major broadcaster) is also headquartered here, and the city holds major government ministries that operate from outside the city of Manila proper. For corporate productions involving Philippine broadcasting, government communications, or BPO industry coverage in Metro Manila's northern districts, Quezon City is the natural location.
Industry Landscape
Broadcasting and media anchored by ABS-CBN and GMA Network is the major sector. Government operations with various ministries and the House of Representatives complex. BPO and shared services with substantial Quezon City operations (the Philippine BPO industry is one of the largest in the world, employing over a million people). Education with the University of the Philippines Diliman, the country's flagship public university. Retail and consumer goods with major shopping mall complexes (SM North EDSA, Trinoma) anchoring local commerce.
Where Corporate Shoots Happen
Eastwood City (in Libis) holds modern corporate towers and a substantial BPO cluster. Cubao holds traditional commercial centers and modern corporate offices. The ABS-CBN and GMA Network compounds hold the major broadcasting operations. The University of the Philippines campus holds research operations.
Crew Base
Quezon City production crew is essentially part of the larger Metro Manila crew base, which is one of Asia's deepest given the Philippines' massive media and BPO industries. Camera, sound, lighting, post-production, and broadcast crews are all available at international standard.
Climate
Tropical. Hot and humid year-round. Wet season (June through November) brings significant rainfall and typhoon risk. Best outdoor shooting weather December through May.
Production Logistics in Quezon City
Reference for projects in Metro Manila.
Time Zone
Philippine Standard Time (PST, UTC+8). No daylight saving.
Language
Filipino (Tagalog-based) and English are both official languages. English is widely used in business, government, BPO, and international corporate contexts.
Currency
Philippine Peso (PHP). Most international B2B production work is invoiced in USD or PHP.
Electrical Standards, Frame Rate
220V at 60Hz (an unusual combination). Type A, B, and C plugs are all encountered, sometimes within the same building. Bring versatile adapters. Default 29.97fps NTSC or 23.976fps for cinematic work given the 60Hz electrical frequency.
Airport
Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) is the primary gateway. About 45 minutes to 90 minutes from Quezon City depending on Metro Manila traffic. Clark International Airport (CRK) is an alternative about 2 hours north of Metro Manila.
Traffic Considerations
Metro Manila traffic is famously heavy. Cross-Metro moves between Quezon City and Makati or Bonifacio Global City typically take 60 to 120 minutes during rush hours. Plan accordingly. Off-peak windows (early morning, late evening) are significantly faster.
Permits
The Film Development Council of the Philippines and Quezon City local government handle filming permits. Lead times of 1 to 3 weeks are typical for standard corporate work.
