Local Production Insights & Logistics

Elmau is not really a city, it is the Schloss Elmau resort in the Bavarian Alps about 90 minutes south of Munich and shoots there are almost always tied to the venue itself, the G7 hosted there in 2015 and 2022 and that gives the place its production reputation.

German is the working language with English fine for any international booking through the schloss.

Crew, gear and senior roles all come from Munich, treat the schloss as a remote location off the Munich production base.

Climate is properly Alpine, beautiful in summer and snowed in for chunks of winter.

Accommodation is the schloss itself for clients, security is real and not negotiable for any high-profile event.

For corporate clients the venue handles its own conference logistics and crews work within those rails.

Time zone is central European.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Elmau Production Experience

Anytime you are hiring a new camera operator, it is important to consider their production experience. This is simply because having experience in the video production enables them to understand your goals and vision for the project more clearly. Experienced crews will have a better understanding of the equipment and how to use it to get the best results which will ensure that your project runs smoothly and efficiently from start to finish.

2. Equipment Packages

A standard camera crew package includes a camera, like Sony Fx3 or A7s3, and an operator. The packages can differ, but the most important thing is to have a package that fits your content. For instance, a videographer equipment package could be more appropriate if you need flexibility and speed when capturing interviews. In this case, a smaller agile equipment package with a DLSR-style camera, Operator, and Small LED light would produce much better content for you.

3. Camera crew size

There are different types of camera crew packages available, each offering different benefits. Again, what's important is to know what your content needs. If you are filming a two-camera testimonial, then you don't need a crew of 8 people. 3 in most cases will suffice.

A typical video crew in Elmau includes a camera operator, assistant camera and sound recordists.
For larger productions, roles may extend to steadicam operators, focus puller, gaffer, grip, drone pilots, and DITs (Digital Imaging Technicians).
The camera department works closely with the DOP to achieve the desired look and feel of the project.
Elmau teams are known for their collaborative approach, ensuring a smooth workflow and effective problem-solving during the shoot.
Having such a diverse and skilled team ensures productions meet the highest standards expected by brands and broadcasters.

A camera crewing platform should be able to provide a variety of services that can be helpful for your project.
