Florence is gorgeous and one of the most access-strict cities I have worked in for venue access, the historic centre is a UNESCO site and any filming inside major monuments requires negotiation that runs slow, plan weeks not days for anything ambitious like Uffizi interior or Duomo access.
Italian is the working language with English in tourism and high-end business.
Crew pool is decent locally with deep reach into Rome 90 minutes south or Milan 2 hours north by train, both are bigger production hubs.
Climate is mild Tuscan, hot summers and pleasant shoulder seasons, winters cool and grey.
Tourist saturation in summer makes street shooting genuinely difficult, I prefer late autumn or early spring for clean exterior plates.
Hotel options around the Duomo and across the Arno handle international corporate clients well.
Time zone is central European.
