Higashi-Hiroshima is the satellite city east of Hiroshima and the production scene is essentially zero locally, the reasons clients come are tied to the sake industry given Saijo is one of the major sake-producing districts in Japan, plus the Hiroshima University presence.
Japanese is essential, English in production rare so a bilingual producer is required.
Crew, kit and senior roles all come from Hiroshima which is 30 minutes west by train or Osaka 90 minutes by Shinkansen.
Climate is humid subtropical, hot summers and mild winters with occasional snow.
The sake breweries with their white walls and the surrounding rural hill scenery are specific visuals.
Hotel options for international corporate clients are limited locally, most clients base in Hiroshima city.
Time zone is Japan Standard.
