Prague was the first leg of a multi-city lung cancer awareness documentary we did for a European medical research body in spring 2025.

We had a small crew on the ground filming patient stories and clinician interviews, then later expanded the same project to Athens, Heraklion, Chełm and Ireland.

Look-out for Prague: the city is well set up for international shoots, English-speaking crew is easy to find and the airport to city center transfer is quick.

Permits at public locations like Old Town Square or Charles Bridge can take weeks though, so for any street or landmark shots plan ahead.

For interview-style shoots in clinical or office locations it is fairly straightforward.

The biggest learning was around editing turnaround.

When the client kept adding b-roll from later shoots in other cities to the Prague edit, the post production stretched and we had follow-up invoices for additional editing rounds.

So if you are running a multi-city project starting from Prague, build clear edit milestones into the contract from day one to avoid scope creep later.

Local crew rates are reasonable compared to Western Europe, equipment is on par with anywhere else, and the food and hotel scene around Wenceslas Square is great for a small visiting team.
