We did a Toronto shoot for a long-time agency client we work with for an industrial gas company. 3-camera testimonial setup with lots of B-roll around the customer site, single-day production.
The crew on the ground was a 3-person team, Sony FX3 cameras, full lighting and sound package.
Look-out for Toronto: the local production scene is mature and English-speaking which makes briefings easy, but rates are closer to US-level than European-level, so budget accordingly.
Customer site shoots usually require a safety induction on arrival which can eat 30 to 45 minutes off your shoot day, factor that into the call sheet.
Downtown Toronto traffic is brutal at peak hours, so if you are crossing the city between locations plan for an hour minimum or use the subway for crew transit.
Permits at public locations are reasonable to get but require a few weeks lead time.
Power and venue infrastructure are top tier, no worries on the technical side.
Most Toronto crews come with their own grip and lighting which saves on rental costs.
The shoot day went smoothly and the client came back to us soon after for a follow-on production in South Korea using a similar 3-testimonial format.
