The project

Get Camera Crew provided the Cannes-based filming crew for an episode of Fast Company’s Brand New World video podcast, produced during the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity.

The episode featured conversations with Pinterest Chief Marketing Officer Claudine Cheever and Accenture Song Creative Chair Nick Law. It explored Pinterest’s distinctive brand positioning, the changing role of creativity in business and how marketing leaders are adapting to AI, culture and new audience expectations.

The production needed to capture senior executives professionally while working within the fast pace, limited availability and intense conditions of one of the world’s busiest international business events.

The challenge

Cannes Lions brings thousands of executives, agencies, media companies and technology platforms into a relatively small area. During the festival, cafés, hotels, beaches and temporary brand spaces become meeting rooms, production locations and event venues.

Available filming spaces were extremely limited. The final location was a café temporarily rented for Cannes activities—a common arrangement during the festival, even if it initially feels unconventional for an executive interview production.

The festival was also unusually hot and crowded. Temperatures affected both the crew and the equipment, with cameras operating under sustained heat throughout the day. At the same time, executive schedules left little room for delays, lengthy setups or location changes.

The crew therefore had to solve several challenges at once:

  • Create a polished interview environment inside a temporary location.
  • Work around crowds, heat and limited space.
  • Keep the equipment footprint small.
  • Capture reliable sound in a working café environment.
  • Provide enough camera coverage for an engaging podcast edit.
  • Set up and operate within tightly controlled executive schedules.

The solution

Get Camera Crew deployed a lean two-person team with a three-camera Sony FX3 setup.

One camera captured the wide host-and-guest composition, while two additional cameras provided individual coverage of the interviewer and each executive. This gave Fast Company’s editorial team the visual flexibility required for a dynamic, multi-angle podcast without bringing a large crew into an already restricted space.

A compact two-to-three-point lighting arrangement was used to create a consistent, professional interview look. The setup was designed to provide flattering executive lighting while remaining fast to rig, easy to adjust and practical inside the café.

Broadcast-quality audio was treated as a priority. At a crowded international event, clean dialogue cannot be left to the room or the camera microphones. The crew monitored the interviews closely and adapted the setup to reduce the impact of nearby conversations, movement and festival noise.

Despite the heat placing additional pressure on the cameras, the team kept the equipment running and completed the production under the conditions available.

The final result

The interviews became part of Fast Company’s Brand New World episode, “Pinterest Wants You to Close the App,” produced as part of the Creativity at Work series in collaboration with Accenture Song.

The finished episode featured Claudine Cheever discussing Pinterest’s strategy of helping users find inspiration online and then act on it offline. Nick Law contributed a broader perspective on applied creativity and its role in business growth.

The two-person crew delivered:

  • Consistent three-camera interview coverage.
  • Professional lighting in a temporary location.
  • Clear, broadcast-ready dialogue.
  • A compact production footprint.
  • Reliable filming despite high temperatures and a crowded environment.
  • Flexible footage for Fast Company’s final editorial cut.

Why local crews work for international events

Conference interview filming often involves more than bringing the right equipment. Crews must understand how the event operates, anticipate location restrictions and respond quickly when schedules or spaces change.

Get Camera Crew’s international production model gives clients access to experienced local professionals without flying an entire team across borders. For this Cannes Lions video production, a small local crew provided the cameras, lighting, sound and on-site problem-solving required to deliver executive-level results under real festival conditions.

That approach helps international brands and publishers reduce travel, control production costs and keep their footprint manageable—while maintaining a consistent standard across conferences and markets.
