Insights
Not every Fast Company shoot calls for three FX3s and a full broadcast rig. This one called for the opposite: a single videographer, shooting on a phone kit, built specifically for social media rather than a produced interview series. At Davos, that difference matters. The World Economic Forum is one of the most compressed, fast-moving weeks on the calendar, and content built for social has to move at the same speed the event does.
The brief was intentionally minimal: a small run of social interviews with CEOs attending Davos, shot across three days in a way that felt native to social platforms rather than like a broadcast crew had shown up. That meant trading the multi-camera setup we'd run for a podcast or panel for a single operator working fast and light, able to catch a conversation between meetings without turning it into a production each CEO had to schedule around.
Shooting on a phone kit isn't a lesser version of the job, it's a different discipline. It meant framing, lighting, and audio all had to hold up at social quality without any of the rigging time a bigger setup would need, and it meant being ready to move the moment there was a window, since at Davos those windows don't wait. One videographer, minimal gear, and the same standard for a clean, usable result, just built for a format and a pace that a phone kit is actually suited to.
That's the throughline across how we work with Fast Company generally, whether it's three FX3s covering a video podcast at Cannes Lions or one phone kit catching quick social interviews at Davos: the setup changes to match what the content actually needs, but the agility to keep up with the client, and the event, doesn't.
