Building a production aboard a boat

SecurityBridge came back to us for a full-scale production, and this time the venue itself was the twist: the event was held aboard a boat in Rotterdam, which meant every piece of a normally straightforward setup, camera positioning, cabling, live stream infrastructure, had to be rethought for a space that moves, has limited square footage, and doesn't offer the fixed walls and power points a conference room takes for granted.

We ran a three-camera crew on Sony FX3s with a mix of tripods and a gimbal to stay mobile in tight quarters, alongside a full live keynote recording setup, an ATEM Mini, capture cards, and a presentation feed, mixed live by a dedicated technician so the keynote streamed out cleanly even from a floating venue. A documentary-style photographer worked the event in parallel, capturing the day candidly rather than staging it, which suited a setting as distinctive as a boat particularly well.

A complete event package

Running a full broadcast-grade production on the water takes a different kind of planning than a typical venue: power and signal routing have to be mapped out around a boat's actual layout, camera positions have to account for a moving, reflective environment, and the crew has to work efficiently in a footprint far smaller than a standard conference space allows. None of that showed in the final result. SecurityBridge got a live-streamed keynote, full event photography, and a polished highlight video out of a single day, produced with the same broadcast quality we'd deliver anywhere, just executed on a boat instead of a ballroom.
