Matching the Right Shooter to the Job: Covering a Marathon in Malbun for TNT Marathons

TNT Marathons needed a single day in Malbun to capture the full story of their race: interviews with runners before and after they crossed the line, coverage of the race itself, and aerial footage to give the mountain setting the scale it deserves, all shaped into highlight content built specifically for Instagram and the TNT Marathons website.

Scope: Filming through in-house editing

For a shoot like this, having the right person behind the camera matters more than usual. We brought in Marcel from Malbun, a cameraman who genuinely works in this space, comfortable around marathons and outdoor endurance events, someone who knows how to read a race as it unfolds rather than just point a lens at it. That kind of familiarity shows in the footage: knowing where runners will be at their most raw and honest before the start, catching the exhaustion and relief that shows up at the finish, and being physically capable of covering an outdoor race course rather than working from a single fixed position.

With the drone adding an aerial perspective over the Malbun course and race footage capturing the event on the ground, the day produced a full range of material, interviews, action, and scale, all pulled together in-house into content built to work immediately on social and web. That in-house editing step is what turns a full day of good footage into something TNT Marathons could actually post and use right away, rather than raw material still waiting on a separate post-production process.
