Client: M3 Labs
Location: A hospital lab, New Delhi, India
Recce: 25 June
Shoot date: 7 July
Format: Two interviews plus B-roll inside a working hospital lab
Understanding the lab before filming
A hospital lab isn't a space you walk into cold. Before committing to a shoot date, we scheduled a recce two weeks ahead of filming, a dedicated visit to the location to understand the space on its own terms: where the light actually falls through the day, how much room there is to work without disrupting a live clinical environment, what access and permissions look like inside a working lab, and where two interviews and B-roll could realistically happen without getting in anyone's way.
That groundwork is what made the shoot day itself straightforward. By the time cameras rolled on 7 July, there was no guesswork left, positions for both interviews were already worked out, and the plan for capturing B-roll around the lab's real activity was set before the crew ever needed to improvise on the spot. For a location like a hospital lab, where the environment is sensitive and unpredictable by nature, that advance planning is often the difference between a shoot that flows and one that stalls out trying to figure out the room in real time.
A prepared shoot day
It's a simple principle that pays off every time: spend the time understanding the space before you need to perform in it, and the actual production day takes care of itself.
