Project: Behind-the-scenes documentary of OK Go's comeback video shoot for their track "Love"
Location: Budapest, Hungary (Keleti Railway Station & Interview Villa)
Project Summary
Fast Company’s Mark Wilson traveled to Budapest to document the making of OK Go’s most ambitious music video to date. Titled Love, the video marked the band’s return after a decade-long creative hiatus and was filmed across two intense days at Keleti train station. The production was led by Executive Producer Vanessa Singh, who orchestrated the complex two-day shoot.
Get Camera Crew was trusted to provide the on-ground video production support, supplying Mark Wilson with a highly capable local crew, including:
- 2x Camera Operators (Sony FX6, multi-cam documentary & interview style)
- 1x Sound Operator (boom and lavs)
- 1x Local Production Manager (liaison, logistics, coordination)
We also outfitted and lit an interview space — nicknamed the "villa" — where Mark conducted intimate interviews with the OK Go band members.
Production Challenges
The shoot itself, as Mark recounted in his feature, was nothing short of a high-wire act. A 140-foot robotic contraption involving 29 robots and 60 spinning mirrors was the centerpiece of the music video — all designed to crescendo into an epic visual spectacle.
From the perspective of our team, the biggest challenges included:
- Adapting to Last-Minute Changes: On set, moments were unpredictable. Tight lighting windows and robot resets demanded fast coordination.
- Navigating Tight Schedules: Much of the story’s tension came from the final day.
- Maintaining Technical Excellence: Capturing high-quality interviews in a minimal, chaotic environment meant careful lighting setups and consistent sound monitoring.
Despite the obstacles, our crew remained composed and collaborative, supporting both the creative and editorial needs of Fast Company under extreme time pressure.
Mark Wilson’s Take
As seen in the Fast Company feature, Mark’s reporting highlighted both the absurdity and magic of the shoot — from the vibrating tension on set to the philosophical musings of Kulash on creativity.
Our crew’s discreet but essential role allowed Mark to immerse himself fully in the story without production roadblocks. His ability to document the shoot in real time, interview key players, and step into OK Go’s world was made possible by a team that handled the logistics, technical needs, and local know-how seamlessly.
Outcomes
