Kaohsiung for Corporate Video: Taiwan's Port and Heavy Industry Capital
Kaohsiung is Taiwan's second-largest city by metropolitan area and the country's main port city. While Taipei holds finance and government and Taichung holds precision manufacturing, Kaohsiung anchors heavy industry, maritime, and increasingly semiconductor manufacturing (TSMC's new Kaohsiung fab is one of the largest semiconductor investments in Taiwan's history). For corporate productions involving Taiwanese maritime industries, petrochemicals, heavy manufacturing, or the southern Taiwan semiconductor corridor, Kaohsiung is the right location.
Industry Landscape
Maritime and shipping anchored by the Port of Kaohsiung, one of the world's largest container ports. Petrochemicals concentrated at the CPC Corporation refineries and the surrounding industrial parks. Heavy industry including steel (CSC Corporation), shipbuilding, and machinery. Semiconductor manufacturing, growing rapidly with the TSMC Kaohsiung fab development. Tourism and hospitality serving as a more affordable alternative to Taipei.
Where Corporate Shoots Happen
The Port of Kaohsiung and surrounding industrial zones hold the maritime and heavy industry facilities. The Asia New Bay Area is the modern commercial and creative district. Pier 2 Art Center holds creative industries and consumer brand work. Central Kaohsiung along Sanduo Shopping District holds corporate offices and major hotels.
Crew Base
Kaohsiung has a working production crew base, smaller than Taipei but with strong access to industrial facilities and port locations. For larger productions, crews are sometimes augmented from Taipei (about 90 minutes by high-speed rail).
Climate
Subtropical to tropical. Hot, humid summers. Mild, dry winters. Typhoon season runs June through October. Best outdoor shooting weather November through April.

Airport
Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH) handles direct flights to major Asian business cities. International long-haul to Europe or the Americas typically connects through Taipei Taoyuan (TPE) or Hong Kong. About 15 minutes from central Kaohsiung.
Industrial Site Access
For shoots at port facilities, CPC refineries, or steel works, advance safety briefings, PPE, and hot work permits typically apply. Lead times of 2 to 4 weeks are realistic.
Permits
Kaohsiung City Government handles filming permits. Lead times of 1 to 3 weeks are typical for standard corporate work.
