Lima for Corporate Video: Peru's Andean Pacific Corporate Capital
Lima is the capital of Peru and the largest corporate production market on South America's Pacific coast. The city anchors the Peruvian mining industry (Peru is one of the world's largest producers of copper, silver, gold, and zinc; Buenaventura, Volcan, and the major international mining firms operating in Peru maintain Lima corporate offices), the major Peruvian banks (Banco de Credito del Peru, BBVA Peru, Scotiabank Peru, Interbank), the Peruvian conglomerates (Credicorp, Alicorp, Backus, Falabella Peru), and a substantial tourism industry built around the country's role as the gateway to Machu Picchu, Cusco, and the Sacred Valley. For corporate productions involving Peruvian mining, Andean Pacific finance, or major Latin American corporate work targeting the Pacific Alliance markets, Lima is the natural location.
Industry Landscape
Mining anchored by Buenaventura, Volcan, Southern Copper, Newmont (Yanacocha gold mine operations), Glencore (Antamina), and BHP is the dominant industrial sector. Banking and financial services with Credicorp (the major Peruvian financial conglomerate), BCP, BBVA Peru, Scotiabank Peru, and Interbank. Consumer goods with Alicorp (the major Peruvian food and consumer products company) and Backus (the major Peruvian brewer, owned by AB InBev). Energy with state-owned and private operators across hydroelectric and gas. Tourism and hospitality given Peru's iconic cultural destinations.
Where Corporate Shoots Happen
San Isidro is the modern financial district holding the major banks, mining company corporate offices, and most multinational regional headquarters. Miraflores holds luxury hotels and modern corporate offices. La Victoria holds the Sentro Civico business district. Surco holds modern suburban corporate offices including Alicorp.
Crew Base
Lima has a strong production crew base built around the substantial Peruvian commercial production industry, the corporate communications market, and the tourism industry's brand work. For larger productions, crews are sometimes augmented from Santiago (Chile), Bogota (Colombia), or Miami.
Climate
Coastal desert despite the proximity to the equator. Mild temperatures year-round (typically 14C to 28C). Heavy coastal fog (the famous garua) from May through October creates challenging outdoor lighting conditions. Best clear outdoor shooting weather December through April.
Production Logistics in Lima
Reference for projects in Peru.
Time Zone
Peru Time (PET, UTC-5). No daylight saving.
Language
Spanish is the official language. English is widely used in international corporate, mining, and financial services contexts.
Currency
Peruvian Sol (PEN). Most international B2B production work is invoiced in USD or PEN.
Electrical Standards, Frame Rate
220V at 60Hz. Type A, B, and C plugs are all encountered. Bring versatile adapters. Default 29.97fps NTSC or 23.976fps for cinematic work given the 60Hz electrical frequency, matching the Pacific Latin American regional standard.
Airport
Jorge Chavez International Airport (LIM) is Peru's main international gateway and one of the largest airports in South America. A new terminal opened in 2025, expanding capacity significantly. About 30 to 60 minutes from central Lima depending on traffic.
Mining Site Access
For shoots at remote mining sites (most major Peruvian mines are in the Andes at altitude, sometimes above 4,000 meters), advance security clearance, NDA execution, safety protocols, and altitude acclimatization planning apply. Lead times of 6 to 12 weeks are typical. Helicopter access is sometimes required for the most remote sites.
Garua Season
From May through October, Lima experiences heavy coastal fog (the garua) that affects outdoor production lighting. Schedule outdoor shooting accordingly. Indoor and studio work is unaffected.
Permits
Municipal authorities and the Ministry of Culture handle filming permits. For Machu Picchu, Sacred Valley, or other heritage sites, additional cultural heritage authority approvals apply. Lead times of 2 to 4 weeks are typical.
