Belgrade for Corporate Video: Western Balkans' Largest City
Belgrade is the capital of Serbia and the largest city in the Western Balkans. The city anchors a corporate market built around the major Serbian banks, NIS (the major Serbian oil and gas company, majority-owned by Russia's Gazprom Neft), MTS (the major Serbian telecom), Delta Holding (the major Serbian conglomerate), and a rapidly growing tech sector. Belgrade's geographic position makes it a useful hub for productions targeting the broader Western Balkans region (Serbia, Bosnia, North Macedonia, Montenegro). Note: Serbia is not an EU member, which affects customs and some logistical considerations.
Industry Landscape
Tech and gaming have grown rapidly with Nordeus (the Belgrade-founded gaming studio acquired by Take-Two Interactive), Microsoft Development Center, and dozens of regional tech firms. Banking with the major Serbian and foreign-owned banks. Telecommunications anchored by MTS. Energy with NIS. Tobacco and consumer goods with regional operations.
Where Corporate Shoots Happen
New Belgrade (Novi Beograd) across the Sava river from the old city holds modern corporate towers, the Belgrade Waterfront development, and most multinational regional headquarters. Central Belgrade around Knez Mihailova holds traditional corporate offices and the major hotels. Vracar holds many creative agencies and tech firms.
Crew Base
Belgrade has a working production crew base built around the local commercial production market and the growing tech sector. For larger productions, crews are sometimes augmented from Vienna or other Central European cities.
Climate
Continental, with warm summers and cold winters. Best outdoor shooting weather April through October.
Production Logistics in Belgrade
Reference for projects in Serbia.
Time Zone
Central European Time (CET, UTC+1) winter, Central European Summer Time (CEST, UTC+2) summer.
Language
Serbian is the official language (written in both Cyrillic and Latin scripts). English is widely used in business and international corporate contexts.
Currency
Serbian Dinar (RSD). Serbia is not in the Eurozone. Most international B2B production work is invoiced in EUR or USD.
Electrical Standards, Frame Rate
230V at 50Hz. Type C and F plugs (European standard). Default 25fps PAL or 23.976fps for commercial work.
Airport
Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport (BEG) handles direct flights to most major European business cities. About 30 minutes from central Belgrade.
Customs and Equipment
Serbia is not in the EU customs union. ATA Carnets are essential for professional equipment. Customs procedures can take time at the border; allow extra time for processing.
Permits
Belgrade municipality and the Serbian Film Center handle filming permits. Lead times of 1 to 3 weeks are typical for standard corporate work.
