Izmir for Corporate Video: Turkey's Aegean Business Hub
Izmir is Turkey's third-largest city and the country's main Aegean port. While Istanbul dominates Turkish corporate production demand, Izmir holds its own role as the operational hub for agriculture, food and beverage processing, textiles, and increasingly tech outsourcing in the western coastal region of Turkey. The Aliağa industrial zone north of the city is a major petrochemicals and refining cluster. For corporate productions involving Turkish agriculture, food and beverage industries, or the Aegean coastal industrial base, Izmir is the right location.
Industry Landscape
Agriculture and food processing dominate. Major Turkish food and beverage companies (Tat, Komili, Yasar Holding) have significant Izmir operations. Textiles and apparel manufacturing remain important across the broader region. The petrochemicals and refining sector at Aliağa drives some industrial corporate work. The tech outsourcing sector has grown rapidly, particularly serving European clients given Izmir's time zone alignment.
Where Corporate Shoots Happen
The Konak and Alsancak districts hold most corporate offices and the major business hotels. Bayrakli is the modern business district with newer corporate towers. The Bornova area holds the university and tech offices. Aliağa, about 60 kilometers north, holds the industrial complex.
Crew Base
Izmir has a working production crew base, smaller than Istanbul's but with strong access to Aegean coastal locations. Camera, sound, and basic kit are available locally. For larger productions, crews are sometimes augmented from Istanbul (about an hour by air).
Climate
Mediterranean. Hot, dry summers (June through September). Mild, wet winters. Best outdoor shooting weather April through October.
Production Logistics in Izmir
Reference for projects on Turkey's Aegean coast.
Time Zone
Turkey Time (TRT, UTC+3). Turkey discontinued daylight saving in 2016 and maintains UTC+3 year-round.
Language
Turkish is the working language. English is encountered in international corporate and tech sectors.
Currency
Turkish Lira (TRY). Most international B2B production work is invoiced in USD or EUR given Lira volatility.
Electrical Standards, Frame Rate
220V at 50Hz. Plug types C and F. Default 25fps PAL or 23.976fps for commercial work.
Airport
Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB) handles direct flights to major Turkish and European cities. About 20 to 30 minutes from central Izmir.
Permits
Filming in Izmir requires permits through the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and, for certain industrial or strategic locations, through national authorities. Lead times are typically 1 to 3 weeks for standard corporate work.
Industrial Site Access
For shoots inside Aliağa refineries or petrochemical facilities, advance safety briefings, PPE, and hot work permits typically apply. Lead times of 2 to 4 weeks are realistic.
