Jersey for Corporate Video: The Channel Islands Offshore Finance Hub

Jersey is a British Crown Dependency, not part of the United Kingdom, with its own legal system, tax regime, and parliament (the States Assembly). The island has one of the highest concentrations of offshore financial services anywhere in the world: trust and corporate services, fund administration, private banking, and global custody all operate at scale from St Helier. For corporate productions involving offshore finance, wealth management, or fund administration communications, Jersey is one of the few jurisdictions where the work makes sense to film locally.

Industry Landscape

Financial services dominate. The big four professional services firms (PwC, EY, KPMG, Deloitte) all maintain significant Jersey offices. The major offshore law firms (Mourant, Carey Olsen, Walkers, Ogier, Bedell Cristin) are headquartered or have major presences here. Major banks (HSBC, Barclays, RBS International, Santander, JP Morgan) operate substantial Jersey arms. Fund administration is a large sector.

Where Corporate Shoots Happen

St Helier, the capital, holds the financial district along Esplanade and around Liberation Square. The Waterfront area has modernized significantly. Outside St Helier, the island is largely rural with significant coastal locations useful for brand B-roll.

Crew Base

Jersey has a small local production crew base. For most corporate productions, crews are flown in from London (about 60 minutes by air) with local fixers and assistants on the island.

Climate

Temperate maritime, milder than mainland UK due to the Gulf Stream. Long sunny periods in summer. Best outdoor shooting weather April through October.

English. Jèrriais (a Norman language) is recognized but rarely encountered in business.

Currency

British Pound (GBP). Jersey issues its own banknotes alongside UK Bank of England notes; both are interchangeable on the island.

Electrical Standards, Frame Rate

230V at 50Hz. Type G plugs (UK three-pin). Default 25fps PAL or 23.976fps for commercial work.

Airport

Jersey Airport (JER) handles direct flights to London (LCY, LGW, STN), Manchester, and other UK and European cities. About 15 minutes from St Helier. For long-haul international travel, London Heathrow is the typical hub.

Equipment Import

Jersey is outside the UK customs union and has its own customs procedures. ATA Carnets are recommended for professional equipment. Allow extra time for customs processing on arrival.

Permits

Jersey has a small permit framework. Filming on public property is generally informal. Filming at heritage sites or beaches requires advance coordination with the relevant landowner or government department.
