Miami for Corporate Video: LATAM Gateway and Tech Influx
Miami's corporate identity is shaped by its position as the financial gateway to Latin America, a recent influx of tech companies and venture capital firms relocating from coasts, and a long-standing concentration of hospitality, cruise, and real estate industries. The city sits at the intersection of US and Latin American business cultures.
Brickell and Downtown
Brickell is the financial district, home to international banks, wealth management firms, and the LATAM regional offices of major US corporations. Downtown Miami sits adjacent and holds major hotels and the Brickell City Centre development. For finance industry corporate work, this is the natural shoot zone.
Tech Migration
Since 2020, Miami has attracted significant tech and venture capital relocations. Founders Fund, Blackstone, Citadel, and dozens of crypto and tech firms have established Miami offices. For corporate work tied to this new tech corridor, the Brickell and Wynwood areas concentrate most of the activity.
Wynwood and Design District
Wynwood is the city's creative district, known for the Wynwood Walls street art and dozens of creative agencies, design firms, and consumer brands. The Miami Design District (separate from Wynwood) houses luxury retail and design-forward corporate offices.
Major Events
Art Basel Miami Beach (early December) is the largest international art fair in the Americas. The Miami International Boat Show, eMerge Americas (tech conference), and Bitcoin Conference draw significant corporate activity through the year.
Climate
Tropical. Hot, humid summers with frequent afternoon thunderstorms. Hurricane season runs June through November. Winter (December through April) offers the most comfortable shooting weather and coincides with the busiest event calendar.
Production Logistics in Miami
Reference for projects in South Florida.
Time Zone
Eastern Time (ET).
Language
English and Spanish are both widely used in business contexts. For productions involving Latin American audiences or LATAM-focused corporate clients, Spanish-language crew is often part of the team.
Currency, Power, Frame Rate
USD. 120V at 60Hz. 29.97fps or 23.976fps default.
Airport
Miami International Airport (MIA) is one of the largest Latin American gateways in the US. About 15 to 30 minutes from Brickell. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood (FLL) is the secondary option, often less busy.
Hurricane Considerations
For productions scheduled June through November, hurricane contingency planning is part of the project plan. Production insurance typically covers weather delays.
Permits
Miami-Dade Film and Entertainment Office handles county film permits. The City of Miami and City of Miami Beach each have their own permit processes. Lead times are typically a week to two weeks for standard corporate shoots.
