Portland for Corporate Video: Brands, Tech, and Outdoor Industry
Portland sits in northwest Oregon, two hours south of Seattle and one hour from the Pacific coast. The corporate identity here is shaped by a distinct set of anchors: Nike's global headquarters in suburban Beaverton, the Intel chip-fabrication campuses also in Beaverton and Hillsboro, and a large outdoor and apparel industry cluster (Columbia Sportswear, Adidas North America, Keen, Pendleton). The city is also known for a strong design and creative agency scene that supports these brands.
Where Corporate Shoots Happen
For Nike, Intel, and the major suburban tech and apparel campuses, most shoots happen in Washington County west of downtown. Beaverton and Hillsboro are 20 to 35 minutes from central Portland depending on traffic. Downtown Portland itself holds banking, professional services, and some corporate offices, but the city center is smaller than its profile suggests. The Pearl District and the Central Eastside Industrial District host creative agencies and smaller corporate clients.
Production Infrastructure
Portland's production scene is mature and built around brand and advertising work for the apparel and outdoor industries. Camera, sound, lighting, and post-production are all available at international standard. The city has experienced documentary and commercial crews that handle corporate work as part of the regular mix.
Outdoor and Landscape
Portland's surroundings are a working asset for corporate productions. Mount Hood is 90 minutes east, the Columbia River Gorge is 30 minutes east, and the Pacific coast is 90 minutes west. For brand work that needs outdoor environments alongside corporate office shoots, the city makes a one or two day trip cover both.
Climate
Portland has a maritime climate with significant rain from October through April. Summers are dry and mild. For exterior shoots, late April through early October is the safer window.

Time Zone
Pacific Time (PT): PST in winter (UTC-8), PDT in summer (UTC-7).
Language
English.
Currency
US Dollar (USD). Oregon has no state sales tax, which simplifies some equipment and venue invoicing compared to other US states.
Electrical Standards
120V, 60Hz, Type A and Type B plugs.
Frame Rate
60Hz region. Default 29.97fps or 23.976fps.
Airport and Travel
Portland International Airport (PDX) is the main gateway with direct flights to most major US business hubs and several international routes. About 20 minutes from downtown by MAX Light Rail or car. PDX consistently ranks as one of the better US airports for travel ease.
Permits
The Portland Film Office handles permits for shoots within the city limits. Lead times are short for standard corporate work. For shoots at Nike's Beaverton campus, Intel's facilities, or other major corporate sites, internal client approval is what matters, not city permits.
Traffic and Distances
Portland traffic during rush hours adds significant time to cross-river trips. For shoots that involve both downtown and the Westside corporate corridor (Beaverton, Hillsboro), avoid scheduling moves during rush windows.
