Sidon for Corporate Video: Lebanon's Southern Coastal City
Sidon (also called Saida) is the third-largest city in Lebanon and the major urban center of South Lebanon. Historically one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world (with documented Phoenician origins), Sidon serves as a regional commercial center for southern Lebanon. We are direct with clients about the operational context: Lebanon has experienced significant economic and political challenges since 2019, including a severe currency crisis, banking system stress, and intermittent regional security concerns. Production work continues but with appropriate operational planning. For Sidon-area corporate productions, the city anchors regional commerce; most major Lebanese corporate production coordinates through Beirut (about 45 minutes by road).
Industry Landscape
Commerce and retail with the regional southern Lebanon commercial activity. Agriculture and food processing with the surrounding citrus and banana production. Some manufacturing. Tourism with the historic Phoenician sites, the Sea Castle, and the Old Souks. Banking with regional operations of the major Lebanese banks (operating in the difficult post-2019 environment).
Where Corporate Shoots Happen
The Old City around the Sea Castle and the Khan El Franj holds historic architecture iconic for brand B-roll. The modern downtown holds traditional corporate offices and the major hotels. The South Lebanon agricultural areas surround the city.
Crew Base
Sidon has minimal local production crew. All production crew comes from Beirut. Equipment is shipped from Beirut for most shoots.
Climate and Security Context
Mediterranean. Mild wet winters and hot dry summers. Best outdoor shooting weather April through October. South Lebanon has experienced regional security concerns; we work through established corporate security protocols and may decline shoots in periods of acute security concerns.
Production Logistics in Sidon
Reference for projects in South Lebanon.
Time Zone
Eastern European Time (EET, UTC+2) winter, Eastern European Summer Time (EEST, UTC+3) summer.
Language
Arabic is the official language. French and English are widely used in business and international corporate contexts.
Currency
Lebanese Pound (LBP). Given the post-2019 currency crisis, USD is widely used in business. Most international B2B production work is invoiced in USD.
Electrical Standards, Frame Rate
220V at 50Hz. Type C, D, and G plugs (mixed European, Indian, and UK styles). Bring versatile adapters. Default 25fps PAL or 23.976fps for commercial work. Power supply can be irregular given Lebanon's ongoing electricity crisis; reliable venues have backup generators.
Airport
Beirut Rafik Hariri International Airport (BEY) is the main gateway, about 45 to 60 minutes from Sidon by road. Direct flights to major Middle Eastern, European, and African destinations.
Operational Context
Lebanon has experienced significant economic and security challenges. Productions plan for power supply contingency, currency considerations, and security protocols. We do not engage on shoots during periods of acute security concerns.
Permits
The Lebanese General Security and Ministry of Information handle filming permits. Lead times of 4 to 6 weeks are typical for sensitive content.
