Singapore for Corporate Video: Asia's Financial and Tech Capital
I default to Singapore for any major Asia-Pacific corporate brief. The city-state anchors Asia's most concentrated financial services, regional headquarters, and tech corporate market. Singapore holds the regional or Asian headquarters of nearly every major global multinational operating in APAC: Google, Meta, Microsoft, Amazon, Apple, JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, BlackRock, Procter and Gamble, Unilever, and dozens more. Singapore is also home to DBS, OCBC, and UOB (the three major Singapore-headquartered banks), the SGX stock exchange, Temasek Holdings and GIC (the major sovereign wealth funds), Sea Group (the gaming and e-commerce conglomerate), Grab (the regional ride-hailing and superapp leader), and a substantial biotech sector at Biopolis. For corporate productions involving Asia-Pacific business, fintech, biotech, or major multinational regional communications, Singapore is the operational core.
The Regional Headquarters Anchor
Singapore's strategic role as the Asia-Pacific regional headquarters for most global multinationals drives a continuous corporate production calendar. Executive interviews, earnings communications, employee engagement content, investor events, ESG and sustainability content, and product launches commission throughout the year. Many CEOs and senior executives based in Singapore have global responsibility, making the city a hub for global corporate content rather than just regional Asia-Pacific work.
Industry Districts
The Central Business District (Raffles Place, Marina Bay, Tanjong Pagar) holds the financial services concentration and the Marina Bay Sands area for major events. One-North holds Biopolis and Fusionopolis (the biotech and tech clusters). Jurong is the industrial and chemicals district. Changi Business Park holds tech and aerospace operations. The Greater Southern Waterfront is a major future development zone.
Major Corporate Events
Singapore hosts a substantial event calendar including the Singapore F1 Grand Prix (September, the only night race on the F1 calendar), the Singapore International Energy Week, the Singapore FinTech Festival (one of the largest fintech events globally), the Singapore Airshow, and dozens of industry trade fairs.
Crew Base
Singapore has one of Asia's deepest production crew bases, built around the corporate communications demand, the broadcast industry, and the major commercial production market. Camera, sound, lighting, post-production, drone operators, and broadcast crews are all available at international standard with specialized financial services, biotech, and luxury brand experience.
Climate
Tropical equatorial. Hot and humid year-round with temperatures ranging from about 24C to 32C. Frequent afternoon thunderstorms, especially November through January (northeast monsoon) and June through September (southwest monsoon). No real seasonal variation in production conditions; plan for tropical climate year-round.
Production Logistics in Singapore
Reference for projects in Singapore.
Time Zone
Singapore Standard Time (SGT, UTC+8). No daylight saving.
Language
English is the working language of business and government. Mandarin Chinese, Malay, and Tamil are also official languages.
Currency
Singapore Dollar (SGD). One of the most stable and widely accepted Asian currencies. Most international B2B production work is invoiced in SGD, USD, or EUR.
Electrical Standards, Frame Rate
230V at 50Hz. Type G plugs (UK standard, the same large 3-pin plug as the UK). Default 25fps PAL or 23.976fps for commercial work.
Airport
Changi Airport (SIN) is one of the world's most awarded airports and a major Asia-Pacific aviation hub. Direct flights to most major business cities globally. About 20 to 30 minutes from the CBD.
Corporate Facility Access
For shoots inside major multinational regional headquarters, banking facilities, or tech campuses, advance security clearance, NDA execution, and internal communications coordination are essential. Lead times of 2 to 4 weeks are typical.
F1 Logistics
During the Singapore F1 Grand Prix (typically late September or early October), Singapore operates at maximum capacity. Hotel rooms, crew accommodation, and ground transport must be booked many months in advance. The street circuit creates significant CBD traffic disruption.
Permits
The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and the Singapore Tourism Board coordinate filming permits and incentives. Lead times of 1 to 3 weeks are typical for standard corporate work. Singapore has well-developed film incentive programs that can benefit larger productions.
Customs and Equipment
ATA Carnets are accepted. Singapore customs procedures are efficient and predictable. Equipment can typically clear on arrival without significant delay.
