Warsaw for Corporate Video: Central and Eastern Europe's Corporate Capital
I default to Warsaw for any major Central and Eastern European corporate brief. Warsaw is the capital of Poland and the largest corporate production market in Central and Eastern Europe by a substantial margin. The city holds the Warsaw Stock Exchange (the largest stock exchange in CEE), the headquarters of PKO BP and mBank (the major Polish banks), PKN Orlen (one of the largest oil and gas companies in CEE), KGHM (the global copper and silver producer), CCC (the major footwear retailer), and a vast portfolio of multinational regional CEE headquarters. Add Warsaw's growing tech sector (Allegro, the major Polish e-commerce platform, is headquartered here; Brainly, DocPlanner, and many other Polish unicorns operate from Warsaw), and Warsaw ranks as one of Europe's most active emerging corporate production markets.
The Regional Headquarters Anchor
Warsaw serves as the CEE regional headquarters for a large portion of global multinationals operating in the region. Google's CEE engineering hub is in Warsaw. Microsoft, Amazon, JP Morgan (with a major Warsaw operations center), Goldman Sachs, and dozens of other major firms maintain substantial Warsaw operations. The Warsaw shared services and BPO sector is one of Europe's largest.
Industry Landscape
Financial services with the major Polish banks, the Warsaw Stock Exchange, and substantial multinational financial services regional operations. Energy and chemicals with PKN Orlen, PGNiG, and other major Polish energy firms. Mining and metals with KGHM. Retail and consumer goods with CCC, LPP (fashion), and Polish operations of international retailers. Tech and digital with Allegro, Brainly, DocPlanner, CD Projekt Red (the gaming studio behind The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077), and a substantial startup ecosystem.
Where Corporate Shoots Happen
The Warsaw central business district around Rondo ONZ and Centrum holds modern corporate towers including Warsaw Spire, Warsaw Hub, and Varso Tower (the tallest building in the EU, completed in 2022). Wola holds modern corporate developments. Mokotow holds traditional corporate offices and many multinational operations. Praga (across the Vistula) holds creative industries and growing tech.
Crew Base
Warsaw has the deepest production crew base in Central and Eastern Europe, built around the substantial corporate communications demand, the Polish film industry (which has had significant international recognition), and the growing tech sector. Camera, sound, lighting, grip, post-production, and broadcast crews are all available at international standard.
Climate
Continental, with warm summers and cold snowy winters. Best outdoor shooting weather April through October.
Production Logistics in Warsaw
Reference for projects in Poland.
Time Zone
Central European Time (CET, UTC+1) winter, Central European Summer Time (CEST, UTC+2) summer.
Language
Polish is the official language. English is widely used in international corporate, tech, and financial services contexts.
Currency
Polish Zloty (PLN). Poland is in the EU but not the Eurozone (target adoption not currently scheduled). Most international B2B production work is invoiced in EUR or USD.
Electrical Standards, Frame Rate
230V at 50Hz. Type C and E plugs (European standard, Type E is the French-style two-pin plug used in Poland). Default 25fps PAL or 23.976fps for commercial work.
Airport
Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) is Poland's main international gateway, with direct flights to most major business cities globally. About 20 to 30 minutes from central Warsaw. Warsaw Modlin Airport (WMI) handles low-cost carriers.
Corporate Facility Access
For shoots inside Warsaw Stock Exchange, major bank corporate facilities, or PKN Orlen sites, advance security clearance, NDA execution, and internal communications coordination are essential. Lead times of 2 to 4 weeks are typical.
Permits
Warsaw municipality handles filming permits. Lead times of 1 to 2 weeks are typical for standard corporate work. For the Old Town (UNESCO World Heritage) and major royal palaces, additional cultural heritage permissions apply.
Customs and Equipment
Poland is in the EU customs union. Equipment movements within the EU follow EU single-market provisions.
