Podgorica for Corporate Video: Montenegro's Modest Capital
Podgorica is the capital of Montenegro and the operational base for nearly all corporate communications work in the country. The Montenegrin economy is small but increasingly active given the country's NATO membership (joined 2017) and ongoing EU accession negotiations. The major sectors include tourism (centered on the Adriatic coast and Lake Skadar rather than Podgorica itself), banking, and aluminum production. CKB Banka, NLB Banka Montenegro, and the regional Slovenian and Italian bank operations dominate financial services. For corporate productions involving Montenegrin business or smaller Balkan regional work, Podgorica is the natural location. Most major regional corporate production coordinates through Belgrade or Zagreb.
Industry Landscape
Banking with the major regional bank operations. Tourism with operations centered along the Adriatic coast (Budva, Kotor, Tivat) generating much of the corporate communications work, often coordinated from Podgorica. Aluminum production with KAP (Kombinat Aluminijuma Podgorica), historically significant though now reduced. Telecommunications with Crnogorski Telekom and m:tel. Some manufacturing and food processing.
Where Corporate Shoots Happen
Central Podgorica around the Millennium Bridge holds traditional corporate offices and major hotels. The Stara Varos (old town) holds historic Montenegrin architecture. The coastal cities (Budva, Kotor, Tivat - all within 60 to 90 minutes by road) hold the major tourism operations.
Crew Base
Podgorica has a small production crew base. For larger productions, crews are typically augmented from Belgrade (about 5 hours by road or 90 minutes by air) or Zagreb.
Climate
Mediterranean with continental influence. Hot summers (often above 35C inland) and cool wet winters. Best outdoor shooting weather April through October.

Time Zone
Central European Time (CET, UTC+1) winter, Central European Summer Time (CEST, UTC+2) summer.
Language
Montenegrin is the official language. Serbian, Bosnian, Albanian, and Croatian are also recognized minority languages. English is widely used in international corporate and tourism contexts.
Currency
Euro (EUR). Montenegro uses the Euro despite not being in the Eurozone or EU (it adopted the Euro unilaterally).
Electrical Standards, Frame Rate
230V at 50Hz. Type C and F plugs (European standard). Default 25fps PAL or 23.976fps for commercial work.
Airport
Podgorica Airport (TGD) handles direct flights to many European business cities. About 15 to 20 minutes from central Podgorica. Tivat Airport (TIV) on the coast is an alternative for productions focused on the Adriatic.
Permits
Podgorica municipality handles filming permits. Lead times of 1 to 3 weeks are typical for standard corporate work.
Customs and Equipment
Montenegro is not in the EU customs union. ATA Carnets are accepted.
